I find I waste so much time star gazing out the window ………….oh well back to washing the floor and light fitting All done so tidy what a same to make a mess…….. But quilting and sewing is a enjoyable mess

Elia’s Princess Tee--Pee
I was so happy when the Tee Pee had prime position in the lounge room Christmas eve ….waiting for little Elia so see on Christmas morning....
So pretty with the fringing and as the light hit the glitter ..very magical ….Poor Wayne with the poles trying to make secure and stand …well he did it …………..and then Ed & Elia had a night sleep over in Elia’s bedroom ..2 nights later…..

Back in Oz
We arrived in Christchurch on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd... Wayne and I decided to take the two little kid -lets.. Ed & Elia shopping to buy mummy and daddy a Christmas gift …….
Well just 15 minutes before the Earth Quake hit we had left the shopping centre that was closed FROM THE Quake how close was that hey!!!!!!

All I will say about the experience was my brain would not think sensible thoughts…. never had to make decisions like this in my life

Happy another completed Project…..
This year at the Brisbane craft show ,I literally fell into this stall…..
2 young Girls that go to Japan and bring back gorgeous and very modern fabric…..So different to my usual choice……

Seeing as Dragonfly’s are my favourite…
I just had to purchase this material …First thoughts make cushions covers…..
Every day looking at the material I just couldn't’make up my mind…. so file it away….
Then about 2 weeks ago Place mats came to mind
&
matching Tea Cosy….
Just thrilled with the completed project….
Now I need to find the card
with the girls address for more fabric…..
Just amazing what they had …….and good to see young girls very passionate about the craft……

That time of the year has arrive & so quick this year I feel…………. Are we getting busier each year and our lives just rush past! Or is someone making the days , weeks, months, shorter! Well today I have taken the day off work…. as I am house bound…..Yes that’s awful …but when the Christmas pudding is cooking ,you just have to stay put and keep topping up the water …. This pudding will be travelling to Christchurch this year as we will be spending Christmas with Kylie John Little Ed & Elia …. The recipe that I use has Stout, Sweet Sherry & Rum Looks and smells delicioussssssssssssssssss

We were off and racing for the Melbourne Cup get together at my house on Tuesday 1st November!!
I must say that it was a fabulous day filled with fun, food and friends!!
There was hat decorating, raffles and sweeps.
We enjoyed hat decorating...With prizes for 1st. 2nd, 3rd and "Showing Potential".
Each lady was given a black bag of bits and pieces to decorate their hats with.
The ladies were so creative with their decorating as you'll see from the photos below...
We ate like queens, talked like there was no tomorrow and had a heap of fun!!
I think we were all more tired than the horses that ran in the Cup!

I must say they have the best display of wool ...

Every time I visit Brisbane that section is 1st on my Stops ....

Looking around for a seat a elderly lady had room at her table ....I ask if it was o.k. for us to sit with her...of Course Darling was her answer...Having such a

Her name was Ivy ...and next month she will be having her 93rd birthday...

Great Weather Great company & another Sewing Weekend

Last Thursday My Friend Robyn ....
we went to High school together.....
Arrived from WoY WoY (NSW) I was waiting @ Coolangatta airport .....

We headed off to Esk for 4 days Stitching....She was eager to learn Stash & Slash....

I was eager to do a new design call 1 + 2.... Quilt

I found and was interested on a Blog....... when Blog surfing last week .....

Very happy with the end result ......

Up early and by 8 am stitching each morning ....fire never out...To the point Robyn......... didn't know if she had hot flushes ..........or just hot from the fire ............Sometimes she look ill (Between you me and the Blog) I think it was the fire ....we also had time for 2 markets.....fabric shopping ...and on Sunday afternoon Robyn said.... teach me how to ride the trike...so I did ....and then she had a go on the ride on lawn mower...Then started doing the lawns ..what a champion Gal .......... The Mandarin Tree was loaded so we filed a bucket.....

we had lots of fun and laughs..........

A shame Robyn couldn't stay for the next weekend we are fencing oh well..................

Get Red Red Ready for Christmas

About 18 months ago I was visiting The Patchwork Angel…and this book caught my eye…

So I have studied it up...

until about 2 months ago

when I started this project

Well not only have I made the table runner …..

I machine Quilted it also..

First article I have quilted……

The feeling of achievement is great….

I am sure

more I do the better I will get.

How pleased when the last stitch on the binding….

I went snip.

And then I could set the table and sit

admire my work

I felt my work is completed…

Cancer Campaign As a Memento of the event Maria decided to produce a quilt where attendees could sign their names and include a date. The Quilt will also be used to promote future years. Panels and fabric were sourced both locally and interstate. Logos identifying with the various types of common cancers were either downloaded or reproduced and included in the overall design layout. In addition a panel was dedicated to record the details of the event. The Centrepiece Tree resembles the tree of life with its leaves hand sewn and appliquéd .Boarders are too identify with the seasons, which are also appliquéd and sewn by hand. In selecting the panels and depicting the social aspects of life the aim was to highlight the strength, happenings, and positive outcomes that friendship can provide to those touched by cancer The finished quilt measures approximately 2.9 by 2.7 meters. that has been sitting around for about twelve months

So happy My friend is beading little felt birds
and she is Almost done.

Friday Decided to go to Lowood for a drive
what a lovely old town …
People very Friendly This is one of the towns that the Floods went through…
The people just pick them selves back up and go forward …
The stories that we heard were heart wrenching…… Friday Afternoon

Our Easter Mystery Trip To Christchurch

Tuesday 19th April
Wayne & I …excited to leave work and head off to Brisbane International Airport to spend time with Kylie John Ed & Elia
For Easter
Will arrive midnight have a little sleep…. and then all the family will head to Christchurch Airport and then off to Queenstown for 4 days and back to Christchurch Easter lunch time …….
Well this is where it changes…………
We (Wayne & Jeni Me) arrive at Brisbane Airport ….sitting waiting for Air New Zealand to open so we can book in …waiting waiting waiting… Wayne said I think I will have a little look and see what’s happening…..

Came back and said cant see anyone…..So I decided to go and see…
In the distance Air New Zealand Customer service.
I could see a attendant behind the counter …so I decided to go and visit her ….
I asked if our booking was about to open!!!!!! She had a look…… and then very quietly she said I am sorry this flight left last night……………well you can imagine the blood just drain straight out of my body…..husband looking very like a heart attack happening over our luggage ……

WELL THE GOOD NEWS

She arranged a flight to Auckland didn’t get into midnight and then we went to a Airport hotel for 3 hours and then back to Airport to catch a plane to Christchurch by 6am to meet the family and then onto another plane for our Break in Queenstown
(Yahoo) I thought it is still going to happen….

Had A great few days

Day 1
Trip by Old Steam Boat to a farm
Watching sheep sheering
Dogs rounding sheep
And a beautiful Morning tea made on the premises
On trip back by boat to Queenstown a lady played the piano ….and we all had a sing-a-long
It was just lovely

Day 2
Family Gondola & Luge Ride
That was fun for all the kids young and old

Day 3
Quilt show was on in The town
So I had to really go and have a look
And that was great viewing

Day4
The kid lets were so excited that Easter bunny had found them

Day 5
I have been keeping in touch with a blogger from Christchurch …and we decided to meet
It was a lovely couple of hours thanks Barbara.....
Much to Barbara’s family and my family telling us that you shouldn't’t meet people over the Internet …..and how dangerous it could be………..
I think that in many years to come we will sit back and laugh ..how we became friends!!!!!!!

And then (Yesterday Tuesday)
Time to go home up at 4.30am to be at Air Port
By 6am
Said bye to our daughter Kylie
Went straight up to Air New Zealand to book in
And the Attendant said your plane is just backing out………….I cant Believe it ………..so Back to The Customer Service desk ……………..Sent us to Wellington and then from Wellington Brisbane
All I can say is how Air New Zealand are so helpful

yummy crabs to eat.
We are only allowed to eat male crabs
that are over 15cm long.This crab is one of the biggest my Mummy has ever seen. It was so Delicious.

Selected by the New Zealand Garden Trust

as a Garden of National Significance

Age.... House built in 1890 2 eyes and a nose facing east. Altered in 1973.

John and Penny came here in 1936 to a mass of trees willow prunus pines and macrocarpas all to within 3 meters of the house,all had to be cleared and in doing so they completely exposed to the wind ...nothing between them and the southern Alps! It takes at least a generation to have shelter again.

Christmas Break

With

As we leave the wet weather behind in Brisbane

was nice to arrive in

NZ (Christchurch to a windy but dry day)

After our first night...up early and on our way camping ...

Just 45 minutes up the road ...but you really feel the beautiful

country

side

just 5 minutes out of the City

We (mum & dad)

slept in a very comfortable self contain Cabin...

The tent was just outside our door

each morning ED & Elia

would come in and have breakfast...

so lovely to see little faces....when you awake ..

Day 1

Putting up what they call a Flick up Tent

And then off on a Train ride around the mountains ...

Usually it's a Stream Train

but

with all the heat and wind's it was cancelled and the Normal Train was used

most enjoyable

Rain Rain Wont Go Away

After Spending a few days on the

Sunshine Coast

(Rain Coast)

We were up early driving

we go towards

I Must say how Beautiful and Green

the country side is looking....

All the Dams are full

Back to the Drive....

The fog and Rain for the next 2 hours ...

I just sat very quiet...like a little church mouse.....

sweating and praying....

While Husband Dear was driving....

I think it's very important to have full attention..

Driving in these conditions....

As we arrive at the Wivenhoe Dam what a sight....

Water was being released...

It look just like a giant water fall

Each Trip is a adventure

On this day we started by going to Inala (Brisbane )

To the Asian fish markets.

So fresh and the prices are so low compared to the Gold Coast.

We then arrive at

Paddington a Inner Suburb of (Brisbane)

To Have a look at Antique Shops.

Well

was like going back to the 50's

Time was much more simple

Not so Rush, Hustle and Bustle in those days

Sleep Over & The Gold Coast Show
Little Riley No (2) Grandson arrived on Thursday afternoon............

pulling his overnight bag ...might I add its almost as big as Riley............ Grannie (me) & Riley off to the show .............After a 3 kilometre line of traffic trying to just enter the show parking area...we made it .....
As we enter the gates and walk up to side show alley..............I will never forget the look on this little fellows face..............He didn't know where to look ....and his face was shinning like the sun..............
I have posted pictures of Quilts that were on display and from the Salvation Army ...our Lizzie did well...

It amazes me with Lizzie's designs well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought that I was never completing this Quilt.......................
From the first time I seen the Fabric sitting on the shelf in a Teddy Bear Shop in Mudgerabah................. I just fell in love with the Crisp Greens and Pinks...............
I am into Crazy Patch at the moment ..headed home and started slicing and stitching
Last weekend..... off to the farm with my finished quilt. all excited......... Saturday Morning while waiting for my guest to arise....decided to make the bed up...........I stood back and thought

I don't like this .......................so I have spoken to a few friends..... and because I have a Quilted White Fitted Valance........maybe it needs a Pink Valance .............................one minute you are on a high with your achievements and then the next.................well you know what I am thinking ......................My motto is don't give up.......................Rethink....................Also in the middle of doing matching Pillow Shams .......................................

Open Day for the Public to view Quilts & guess ............... The Heavens decided to open

all day.....But what a display of Quilts............ entry was free...

A group of Traders selling fabric.as you entered

when you arrive

a number was given which entitled Coffee and Fresh Scones which were baking all morning ...................

Different Quilting Groups had show and tell ...talking about each Quilt ......up on Stage .............

So the rain didn't even damper the Spirit of the day....................

For ten days in the end of July every year ..Artists, Weavers,Knitters & Crocheting....Create art works for all the trees..... An estimated 150 trees are transformed ....seeing is to believe.....
A quirky festival that one and all should experience.............. The wonder of all the trees decorated with knitted and crochet jumpers .....the streets are alive with Jazz Bands playing and Market stalls in the main Street

Welcome to our third Blessing of the Quilters.

These hexagon quilts above

have been made by ladies from both groups and their friends and these will go to Salvation Army Stillwaters Emergency Accommodation for Women in the building next door.

These quilts will be given later in the year along with about 65 Cuddle Cushions for the women who are usually quite traumatised and need to know that other women care about them and the cushions give them something to cuddle.

The quilts above

have been made by ladies from the two Salvation Army Corps. for the Salvation Army Fairhaven Rehabilitation Centre to be built at Mt. Tamborine. We are aiming to provide the new centre with 56 quilts by August. If any individual lady or group would like to donate a single bed quilt, or three, please feel free to do so as they will be very gratefully accepted.

arrived on Saturday with Yuka's Brother & Wife for a Aussie B-B-Que at the farm....................

So what better

....than finding some old paling fence............ old table and drum.............

making a table under the Gum Trees ...............

They thought is was something special ...

We didn't see any rain.....not hot & gentle breeze...............

so it was just Perfect.................

After lunch we all

walk over the creek ,,started cleaning another paddock that has been unloved..........

I would say for years................

after a few hours and looking back at all the hard work................

we all felt very pleased...........................

Excellent home remedies

Keep This Handy On The Fridge!

Did You Know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately--

without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional 'pain relievers.'

toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose. Achy muscles from a bout of the flu?

Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for in-stant relief for aching muscles Sore throat?

Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey & take 1 tablespoon, six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water & drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly-- even though the product has never been advertised for this use.

On the weekend when I was cleaning up on the farm ...my new next door neighbour ...Julie .....arrive at the fence... introducing her self..and she is expecting her 2nd baby in Late November.....
So on Tuesday morning

I decided I would go to Kitty's at the Tweed ...........

As of today its official....
Good-Bye city life...............
Green acres here I come .....(ESK) (Brisbane)
Wayne and I have just purchased a babe hobby farm.....I am so excited that I am jumping out of my skin .....a little creek runs through the property ...........its just 1 1/2 hours from work (Beenleigh)

we can still spend a few days a week commuting...... mind you its a very unattractive house that came with the land .......the Real Estate Agent said.... needs tender loving care....with a large chuckle....but I am thinking this house needs to be turn into a loving home .......where all the family come.. relax ...keep their eyes open very wide for snakes.......................yikes................I believe it also comes with kolas. hundreds of green tree frogs. which I am happy about... love those little fellows ........and generations of raccoons yesssssssss raccoons........
so now I will be quilting to suit my little Farm house....have I mention that I am excited ...............

Great Weekend
Camping at
Brunswick Heads.............

arrived Friday night after work...........

set up our camp site ...........

& had a lovely beef casserole and rice dinner...

and then home made orange slice ....

Saturday

morning the boys decided to go fishing up the river ...

us girls said..............

girls better do what girls do best

SHOP...

so in the car and down the Highway to Byron Bay ...

those

that know Byron Bay..............

know how exciting and colourful the characters are ....

.........that get around the town ..........

and they never disappoint.....

we sat in a cafe having lunch

a very interesting older gentleman.........

hop off his little scooter ............

sat down and ordered his coffee ..

we all had turns thinking what he was .....

I thought maybe a writer or artist....

very sharp pointed face ..with white hair and white beard. cut to a point...

and beret cap ...vest and shirt .....

ohhhhhhhhhhh well I was so wrong .....

later walking the shops here he was sitting outside another cafe

with folding table and tarot cards ...

yes a fortune teller ...................I knew that..............(Not)..
I always love spending time(camping) with the kids

teaching Riley (3) yabbying was a great treat for him ...

Busy week .... but happy with the end result...........Rivers had a shoe sale ........in the car and off I go ...............look at the delightful boots I found for Granddaughter Elia..they are going away for Christmas ...............The last stitch on Wednesday went into Kylie's Knee rug ..I took it to work ... each morning tea break... let the coffee go cold.... and stitch one side a day......the tractor material ....which I am very please with .....made PJ'S for one Grandson ...and put the final touch to the little Crochet Jacket And Cap
for Baby Alana-May due in 5 days so that was close............

Beenleigh Quilt Show
Great day was had by all ..........we had to be at the Southport Salvos by 8.30am to leave by 9am
2 small buses left.....when we arrived at the show ground...you could feel excitement was building with the ladies ...the cost was $5.00 to enter and included morning tea...well my hat off to all the ladies that put the show together ...for a country town it was worth going...the quilts are to die for ..and ideas .. my head is still spinning ......and little stalls selling their products...a bus called The Big Red Bus set up outside with material and bits and pieces.......Well done Beenleigh Quilt Group ..............Pat yourselves on the back ....................
a very big clap from us .............and yes we will be back next year

As I entered the door ..I was like a little girl...wishing I could just jump up and down............... and run around the shop...the excitement of all the beautiful projects on display.............. if you didn't like this shop ..............you are very hard to please......ended up using my Visa Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.my husband might be listening..............I love the Bored husband chair for men..............I felt I could spend longer in the shop........................I will be going back ...I am sure of that

THE 5 MINUTE

CHOCOLATE CAKE FOR ONE PERSON.....

I received this recipe from Karen

thought with the cold weather

I would share

Enjoy

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE4 tablespoons flour - use SR flour4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe) -use 2 mugs

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well...
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
